Hey Boys, Hey Girls
An illustrative and editorial zine based on 90's Berlin. Hand-bound, cut and printed using risograph.
Specifically, the zine focuses on the fall of the Berlin Wall, the iconic Berlin rave scene that followed, and how this historical era impacts rave culture today.
Own film photography and digital collage inspired the image making for this project.
Monoprinting was a key technique developing a loose and emotive atmosphere for the piece.
The layout was then formatted digitally and was intended to be printed on flourescent stock to convey the vibrancy of the era. Text was imbedded articulating the history of the Berlin Wall and photography was paired alongside quotes from a self conducted survey about how rave culture effects present day communities.
